So you've got the curves. And you get the looks. But are you still insecure because of the size clothing you fit into?
Beyonce, JLo, Kim Kardashian (whether you like them personally or not), get a lot of attention because of their hourglass buh-buh-bbaaam bodies. But let me tell you, they aren't all that skinny up close and personal. They are normal looking women ' you just happen to see them all glitzed out and glamoured up, so of course you're going to feel insecure comparing yourself to them. And oh yes, let's not forget the Spanx that takes off 1-2 sizes that they just so happen to be wearing every time they go out in public and get photographed.
So what helps with a woman's insecurities when it comes to her looks and the clothes she wears? I hear the following statement time and time again "Once I lose weight, I'm going to buy those jeans or that outfit or do my hair like this" Well, what are you going to do in the meantime? Look like a slob? (Because THAT'S going to make you love yourself even more)
First of all, let me tell you that I've never been able to find a pair of jeans that I didn't have to get adjusted (i.e. using a belt, getting them hemmed, having to buy a bigger size just so they would fit around my lovely lady lump in the back and my child-bearing-sized hips). But I don't let that affect my self-worth. So here are some strategies that will make you appreciate yourself for the sexy, sultry woman you are, even in your everyday, 'normal' clothes:
Get Your Clothes Tailored
If your clothes don't fit you right, you won't look put together and that in and of itself makes you feel sloppy. And having a pair of pants fit your dairyaire just right will give you a boost of confidence (believe it or not) because a woman makes an outfit, not the other way around.
Buy New Clothes Now
Don't wait until you 'lose weight'. As women, we are our own worst self-critics and always believe we look worse than we do. You are sexy, so flaunt your stuff! You are a superstar in your own right and people will only see you as you let them. Now I'm not saying buy a whole new wardrobe (unless you can afford it, in which case ' lucky you), but if you see something you love, get it. I'm not saying be irresponsible with your money, but don't deprive yourself either because you think you need to punish yourself. My mother always played that game and it drove me insane - she was always doing for everyone else, but wouldn't buy anything for herself because her insecurities played such an integral part in how she saw herself. It's exhausting not liking yourself, so learn to take care of you FIRST.
Look at yourself in the mirror every morning and tell yourself one thing you love about yourself. It's simple and not at all silly ' this is the breakfast of champions.
Follow Your Passions
Now this may seem unrelated to fashion and style, but when you are happy, you tend to feel better about yourself in all aspects of your life. If you are following what makes you happy, you better damn well believe you're going to buy yourself those shoes that make you feel even better about yourself, especially because you know they're going to make you look hot!
See a pattern here yet? Having clothes that fit your body (regardless of size) = feeling good about yourself = makes you want to do the things you love = makes you feel even more fabulous = you are more willing to take the steps to make a better, more healthy and happy you as part of your everyday lifestyle.
